At the time when the anti influx groups slam the BJP for its double-standard approach towards the ILP issue, BJP leader and cabinet minister, AL Hek on Friday said the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government is pursuing the demand for implementation of the inner line permit (ILP) with the Centre.
“We are pursuing the demand as MDA government,” Hek told reporters.
“BJP don’t play double standard. Meghalaya BJP says yes to ILP and Central BJP says no to it. Show your true colour” – read a placard displayed during the sit-in-demonstration organized by the CoMSO in the city here on Friday.
Asked if the state BJP would also pursue with its central leadership on the issue, Hek however said, “The chief minister Conrad K Sangma, as well as the Governor, are very proactive and under their leadership, we want to proceed ahead.”
He also expressed full faith in the chief minister as leader of the MDA. “We will work together with the chief minister to pursue the ILP demand,” Hek added.
