Senior BJP legislator and cabinet Minister AL Hek said his party state leadership has identified three names for the Shillong parliamentary seat; however, a call will be taken after the party constitutes the state office bearers and the state executive.
Talking to reporters, Hek said, once the state office bearers and the state executive of BJP is constituted they will start initiating discussion about the Lok Sabha election.
“Three candidates are interested; the president told me we have 3 aspirants and whoever the party chooses, one among the three it’s upto the party. After the party takes a call then they will send all the reports to the central leadership, then the central leadership will make a final call,” the BJP state leader said.
Asked, he said, “The President (of BJP) is yet to constitute the state office bearers and the state executive. Once this is done then only they will start initiating discussion about the election. I sat last week with our state president Rikman ji, he said soon it will be done.”
Commenting on BJP’s inability to ever win the Shillong Parliamentary seat, Hek said, “We are not contesting for the sake of contesting election; we are contesting to win the election.”
About the Anti Christian tag and violence against churches, he said, “ The stray incident happens everywhere, whether there is BJP or congress rule state. The stay incidents happen everywhere not to blame any political party.”
With the six months of Manipur Violence, the question is being raised if Manipur is paying a heavy price for the failure of the BJP. Will this have any impact on the upcoming polls in the Northeast, Hek said, “Manipur some issues are there and the opponent will take up but BJP ensures that Manipur is part of Bharat.”
