The Budget session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is set to begin on February 28 and will continue for 10 working days until March 13, with Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma scheduled to present the state budget on March 5. The decision was finalized during the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting held on Thursday.

Speaker Thomas A. Sangma confirmed that out of the total session days, three have been allocated for Private Members’ Business, while the remaining seven will be dedicated to Government Business.

The BAC meeting, chaired by the Speaker, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister in charge of Parliamentary Affairs Prestone Tynsong, Leader of the Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma, Legislators Charles Pyngrope and Lakhmen Rymbui, along with senior government officials.

“We will have ten full working days—three days for Private Members’ Business and seven days for Government Business,” said Speaker Thomas Sangma.

He further assured that ample time would be provided for all members to participate in discussions. “If needed, we can extend the session, even on Friday, to accommodate debates,” he added.
