Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on Monday announced Rs 50,000 ex gratia for each of the police personnel who were injured in a stone-pelting incident that occurred in Tura. The incident took place outside the CM secretariat.
In a video statement, Sangma said, “I have decided that I’ll be giving 50,000 to each one of the injured police personnel as a medical allowance from the Chief Minister’s Special Grant (CMSG) scheme and whatever medical expenditure will be borne by the government.”
Calling the incident “never experienced before,” Sangma said, “The incident in Tura is indeed very, very unfortunate… This is an unexpected situation but the police have controlled the situation.”
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Sangma has issued a stern warning, claiming that the police possess full video recordings and details of those who instigated the violence, and assured to take legal action against the perpetrators.
