Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the Centenary Jubilee Celebration of Chutwakhu locality in West Jaiñtia Hills District today. The event was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar and MLAs Wailadmiki Shylla and Lahkmen Rymbui.
Chief Minister Sangma commended the founding leaders of Chutwakhu for their contributions and congratulated the Dorbar Chnong on reaching the historic 100-year milestone, celebrating the spirit of community and its role in driving growth and prosperity in the locality.
The Chief Minister praised the Chutwakhu community for its progressive outlook, highlighting its early efforts in promoting women’s leadership and participation in community welfare since 1931. He also acknowledged the establishment of youth organizations in 1934, emphasizing that the collaboration of men, women, and youth has made Chutwakhu a shining example of the strength and impact of community unity.
Highlighting the importance of community, the Chief Minister stated that the strength of Meghalaya lies in its different communities and urged the community members to work in tandem with the Government to further growth and development in the District and in the state.
He also expressed his delight on seeing ongoing preparations for the Meghalaya Games in Jowai which he said is a historic moment for West Jaiñtia Hills. He stressed that the investments in sports infrastructure is not only expenditure but is an investment in our youth, the future of our state.
He also handed over cheques amounting to ₹21 Lakhs (₹1 Lakh each) to 21 sports clubs and associations of West Jaiñtia Hills District for preparations for the upcoming Meghalaya Games.
Deputy CM Dhar said the event marks a great milestone for the shnong which shows the dedication of visionary leaders and founding fathers of the shnong.
He thanked the CM for bringing the Meghalaya Games to Jaintia Hills.
He called the Rangbah Shnong as a frontliner in preparations for the Games and stated that the shnong be an example and set benchmarks for success.
