The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee has released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) elections, scheduled for February 21, 2025.
For the KHADC, the Congress has fielded 11 candidates: Victor Ranee (Jirang), Micky Dauglas Syiem (Umroi), Lamborsing Nongrum (Nongkrem), Rilang Nongkhlaw (Langkyrdem Laitkroh), Monarch Shabong (Nongshken), Batskhem Marbaniang (Mawsynram), B. Vitus Rymmai (Sohra), George Sun (Mawphlang Diengiei), G. Ningstar Marthong (Nongstoin), Kodang Rashir (Mawshynrut), and Pherdonnam Rngaid (Langrin).
For the JHADC, the second list features five candidates: Bitos Sari (Mukhla Ummulong), Katbanbiang Lamare (Nartiang), Richard Singh Lyngdoh (Mynso Nongjngi), Saron Pasweth (Jowai South), and Lalwilliama Thiaite (Saipung Nongkhlieh).
This announcement reflects the party’s efforts to strengthen its position in the district councils and secure robust representation in both KHADC and JHADC.
As per the election schedule, polling will take place on February 21, with the results slated for declaration on February 24. The election notification will be issued on January 27, and the last date for filing nominations is February 3. Scrutiny of nominations will also occur on February 3, with February 4 set as the final date for withdrawal of nominations.
