Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Reaffirms Coalition Commitment

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong reaffirmed on Wednesday that the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) 2.0 coalition is committed to completing its full term. Despite the National People’s Party (NPP) securing an absolute majority, Tynsong emphasized the party’s dedication to the coalition’s longevity.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a program, Tynsong, who also serves as the State President of the NPP, expressed confidence in the coalition’s stability. When questioned about potential cabinet reshuffling, Tynsong stated that as the party president, he was not informed of any such plans. He clarified that decisions regarding cabinet appointments and portfolio allocations fall under the Chief Minister’s prerogative.

“If there is any move to drop someone from the Cabinet, it is entirely the Chief Minister’s decision, not the party’s,” Tynsong added, highlighting that any changes within the cabinet would be determined by the Chief Minister, not by the party leadership.
