Joining the rest of the country, Meghalaya too will have COVID 19 vaccine dry run on January 2, Saturday. Infact, the dry run for the Covid vaccine will be held in all states on Saturday.

Informing about this Commissioner Secretary Health and Family Welfare, Sampath Kumar told Meghalaya News 24, “Yes, we will have the dry run tomorrow and it will be conducted in two districts of the state. “

Elaborating further, he said, “We have selected East Khasi Hills as well as West Garo Hills for the Dry run.”

It will be conducted sticking to all procedures that will precede a real COVID-19 vaccination drive.

“We have protocols that will be followed for this dry run,” the official said.

The process, in which participants receive dummy Covid vaccines, is meant to test the mechanisms and reveal possible gaps in the system ahead of the actual vaccination drive.

This is the second dry run being conducted in the country — the first was held on December 28 and 29 in Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, and Gujarat and had gone off without a hitch.

The central government has also asked all states and UTs to ensure effective preparedness for the Covid-19 vaccine roll-out. The dry run will also equip the state and UT administration in the management of vaccine supply, storage, and logistics including cold chain management.
