Meghalaya Government Approves Relaxation of Upper Age Limit for SSA Teachers

 

SHILLONG, OCT23: Education Minister Rakkam Sangma informed on Wednesday that the state cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, has approved the relaxation of the upper age limit for serving SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) teachers seeking recruitment in government Lower Primary, Upper Primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools.

“The government has approved the upper age limit to 45 years, allowing SSA teachers to participate in the recruitment examinations advertised by the government of Meghalaya,” the education minister informed the media. This move is aimed at providing opportunities for experienced SSA teachers to secure positions in government schools.

Further, the Cabinet approved to avail loan from Asian Development Bank for implementation of the project – Support Human Capital Development in Meghalaya – Phase – II. 90 percent of the loan amount will be sanctioned as a grant to the state, which will be repaid by the centre and 10 percent of the loan amount will be borne by the state
