Meghalaya Government Proposes 5,000 Smart Classrooms

Shillong, Dec 28: Meghalaya Education Minister Rakkam A. Sangma has informed that the state government’s ambitious proposal to introduce an additional 5,000 smart classrooms in schools across Meghalaya.

“The Education Department has already implemented smart classes in some institutions across the state,” Sangma stated. “We have now proposed to the central government to establish another 5,000 smart classrooms, and we are awaiting their sanction for the initiative.”

Emphasizing the importance of integrating technology into education, he added, “Smart classes are the need of the hour and a vital part of education. You cannot stay away from this.”

In addition, the Minister revealed plans to introduce QR code-enabled textbooks for Classes 10 to 12, covering subjects like Science, Mathematics, and Social Science. “From the next academic session, these textbooks will include QR codes that provide access to video lessons for every topic and solved exercise videos. This will serve as a complete learning solution, eliminating the need for tuition,” he explained.

The move is expected to modernize education, enhance learning outcomes, and provide students with accessible, technology-driven resources.
