Meghalaya Govt extend time for Regional Committees to submit report

The Government of Meghalaya has extended the period for submission of reports by the three Regional Committees by another 45 days. This was informed by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya.

Earlier, on September 26th 2022, the Governor of Meghalaya constitute the three Regional Committees to examine the present status of the remaining six ‘areas of differences’

These areas include, Langpih in West Khasi Hills District; Borduar, Nongwah- Mawtamur, Deshdoomreah, Block-ll in Ri-Bhoi District; Block-l, Psiar-Khanduli in West Jaintia Hills District.

Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong is heading the Ri Bhoi District Regional Committee, cabinet minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar is heading regional committee for West Khasi Hills District and cabinet minister Sniawbhalang Dhar regional committee for West Jaintia Hills District.

The regional committees were constituted  after the state governments of Meghalaya and Assam have recently started the second phase of border talks for resolving the remaining six areas of difference.
