Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma announced that the state government is investing close to Rs 1,000 crore in developing sports infrastructure.
Addressing Mediapersons at the sideline of the Durand Cup, the Chief Minister mentioned that around 275 new sports facilities are under construction across the state. Meanwhile, Sangma expressed satisfaction with the quality of the construction work.
“We have about 275 new structures which are under construction or in progress in different parts of the state come up in the state which will give you a monetary figure if you put out all the projects that we are currently constructing we have almost close to Rs 1000 crores worth of infrastructure projects that are going on in the state and many more projects are expected to come up and we want to give it a big push,” The Chief Minister said.
Elaborating further on the projects, he said, “Rs 1000 crores worth of projects is ongoing, so we have about 275 infrastructures including this JN Stadium, including the 120 or 130 crores of indoor facility going on just behind this particular structure.”
He also said that the construction of PA Sangma stadium is done in two phases.
“So, first phase, the football part is over, but the indoor stadium is still going on,” the CM said.
Wahiajer Multi Sports Complex has been completed, So like that just Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs Shakliar Warjri has announced and tended out close to about 7- 8 artificial turf, beside there are some swimming pools being built, so we have got multiple projects going on,” he added.
