Meghalaya Health Minister Dr Ampareen Lyngdoh said the state Government rejects the proposal of the centre to rename flagship programme as Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs.

Asserting that Health is a state subject,  Dr Lyngdoh  told Meghalaya News 24, “The state Government  has not accepted  the proposal that has come from the centre as the state Government  is clear in this matter and don’t have to respond  to the centre  but for sure it will not rename any of its program  as Mandir.”

Reportedly, earlier,  the Christian-majority states like Nagaland and Mizoram have reiterated their request to the Union government to exempt them from the rebranding exercise of Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre.

In November last year, the Centre had decided to rename its flagship programme as Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs.
