Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma admitted on Tuesday that the salary structures of non-academic SSA (Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan) staff are not systematic, acknowledging that their demands are genuine. He urged the agitating employees to call off their protest, highlighting that Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and the state government are addressing the issue positively.
Speaking to Mediapersons in Shillong, Sangma expressed, “The state government is looking at all the factors and we are looking at the positive side. I would like to request our non-academic SSA employees, who are very much a pillar of our system, to call off the agitation. We have assured them, and the state government has shown a positive sign.”
He added that the Chief Minister has already constituted a rationalisation committee for salary enhancement, recognizing that the current salary structure is not systematic and that the demands of the SSA staff are justified.
The All Meghalaya SSA Non-Teaching Staffs Association (AMSSANTSA) is currently staging an indefinite agitation. The state government has formed a Rationalisation Committee to examine the proposal for the enhancement and rationalisation of salaries for all non-academic SSA staff in the state.
