Continuing Meghalaya’s war against drugs, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma led the High Level & District Level Drug Disposal Committee of Meghalaya Police to incinerate seized narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances worth ₹53.86 Crore at Star Cement Ltd.,Lumshnong,East Jaintia Hills District.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister reaffirmed the State’s continued commitment to eradicating the drug menace that has tragically impacted the lives of many young people.
He emphasized that the government, through the Drug Reduction, Elimination, & Action Mission (DREAM), is actively supporting vulnerable youth in their struggle against drug abuse.
The disposed drugs were linked to NDPS cases registered in five districts: East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, West Jaiñtia Hills, and East Jaiñtia Hills.
Deputy Chief Ministers Prestone Tynsong and Snaiwbhalang Dhar, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA Santa Mary Shylla, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
