Ri Bhoi Police on Monday detained a smuggler and seized heroin worth Rs. 4.8 crores from the vehicle in which he was travelling.
Acting on a tip off, Police seized the heroin which was coming from Manipur and was meant to be smuggled to Shillong.
Ri Bhoi Police chief, Giri Prasad said that the heroin was seized by the Ri Bhoi Police after the vehicle used for illegal smuggling of heroin were intercepted at Byrnihat following the arrest of persons who were allegedly involved in the illegal smuggling of heroin.
He also informed that the vehicle used for illegal smuggling of heroin has registered number ML 05-S- 9485 and the person who has been arrested has been identified as Simtekhan Tluanga from Manipur.
In this connection, a case has been registered against the arrested person under the NDPS Act and the investigation is on, he further added.
