Shillong, Dec 9: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to oversee the progress of vital digital infrastructure projects in Meghalaya. The focus was on enhancing digital connectivity and services across the state.
A significant milestone was achieved with the completion of Phase I connectivity, which now links three district headquarters (Shillong, Tura, and Nongstoin) and eight block headquarters. The Chief Minister said, the government is actively working on implementing the International Internet Gateway and the Meghalaya State Wide Area Network (MSWAN) to further strengthen digital connectivity.
The meeting also discussed the establishment of a new State Data Center to centralize IT operations. Additionally, updates were provided on the construction of the Tura Tech Park, a project aimed at fostering technological growth and job creation in the region.
To promote digital education, the government is distributing M-Tabs and laptops to students as part of various state schemes.
Chief Minister Sangma reiterated the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering the youth through technology-driven initiatives.
