Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly, Thomas A. Sangma, has confirmed that preparations are underway for the interior work of the main hall in the under-construction Assembly building.
“The preparation is on to start the work of the interiors of the main hall,” he stated.
When asked whether the construction would be completed this year, Sangma responded, “We are trying our level best. I can foresee so many things, but I can assure you that we are trying our best—that we will definitely have our next Assembly session there in the new building.”
Addressing concerns over delays, he clarified that the issue was not due to a shortage of labor but rather the intricate work required for the dome covering. “It’s not about labourers, but the delay is because the covering of the dome is taking some time. The top, the covering, the GRC work has to be crowned, or whatever you call it, which is ornamental, is yet to be done,” he added.
