Meghalaya’s tourism is set to reach new heights, with Shillong emerging as the most preferred destination for 2025, said Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh during a major review session on Tuesday. “The major review done today was on tourism, which you are all aware is now touching a new level with Shillong being the most preferred tourist destination for 2025,” he noted.
The commissioner and secretary, along with the tourism director, briefed the minister on various projects totaling over Rs 400 crore. “We have a total number of projects funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) amounting to Rs 191 crore, and from the state plan, we have earmarked an amount of Rs 227 crore for infrastructural activities across Meghalaya,” Lyngdoh added.
On the much-anticipated Shillong Ropeway project, Lyngdoh confirmed progress, stating, “Things are on track, and by mid-November, the work will start on the ground.”
