As the budget session of the parliament begins on Friday, Meghalaya still awaits an appointment from the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The state cabinet along with the pressure groups have submitted memorandums to Amit Shah during his visit to the state on January 23 as they were asked to meet him in Delhi with their plea.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters in Shillong, “Right now we are still waiting for our CM is in touch with the office of Home Minister but we are yet to get the appointment till today, but I am sure we will be able to get the appointment in these coming days the session has just today.”
The session will run from January 29 to April 8 with a recess from February 15 to March 7. The budget is to be presented in Parliament by finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1.
Stating that the budget session will continue till April 8 with a recess from February 15 to March 7, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “Budget session of the parliament started from today so next week and next to next week it will continue so I am sure during this duration our honorable union home minister will give us the appointment.”
The State Government expects an appointment will be fixed with the Union Home Minister in this budget session.
Asked about the pressure groups, he said, “The honorable HM himself said I would like to meet them in Delhi, it is already communicated.”
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has requested the pro-ILP groups to wait for the meeting with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah for discussion on the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP).
It may be mentioned here, the pressure groups have expressed disappointment over Shah’s refusal to discuss the ILP resolution and some have even termed it as a big insult to the MDA government and the people of the state.
