Shillong, February 17: Meghalaya is poised for a major tourism transformation, with an investment of over ₹4,000 crore set to reshape the sector over the next two years. Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh announced that the initiative will focus on strengthening infrastructure, expanding key tourism circuits, and adding newly discovered locations to the state’s tourism map.
“The government is committed to improving infrastructure and linking multiple tourist destinations to create a more immersive travel experience,” Lyngdoh stated. “We are no longer focusing on just one village but integrating five major tourist centers into a single circuit, encouraging visitors to explore a broader range of attractions.”
Highlighting the government’s vision, he added, “The annual tourism map, which we update every year, will now include more areas, especially new locations that have recently been discovered.”
With the Ropeway project already in motion and several circuits being linked, this ambitious initiative aims to enhance connectivity, boost visitor footfall, and position Meghalaya as a top-tier tourism destination in India.
