Senior leader of All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) and the cabinet Minister from West Bengal, Moloy Ghatak on Friday asserted that money can buy anything, but not votes.

Ruling out the popular conception that money plays a bigger role in winning elections, Ghatak said, “Maximum money flowed during the West Bengal election, still they (BJP) miserable loss in the West Bengal election. Money cannot purchase the votes.”

While ruling out any attempt to horse trading in getting the 12 Congress legislators, the AITC leader said, “This incident is not horse trading, because they have not joined to form the Government. They have joined TMC to fight against the misrule of the BJP. 12 seating MLAs under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee and Avishek Banerjee joined yesterday.”

“ In Meghalaya I think if Mamata Banerjee comes and Avishek Banerjee comes, the entire scenario of Meghalaya will be changed,” he said, adding that Mamata Banerjee has established that BJP can be defeated.

Calling Mamata, the only alternative for non BJP Government, he said, “Mamata Banerjee already showed that BJP can be defeated and after the election result of West Bengal, it is established all over the country that Mamata Banerjee is the only alternative leader who can become the prime minister and I can tell you that in 2024 you will see the name of the Prime Minister is Mamata Banerjee.”

He further informed that many big names in the political spectrum of Assam have shown interest in joining AITC, “ …from all the states, the oppositions, the ruling party MLAs and MPs all trying to join AITC. In Goa also the ex CM joins us. In Tripura, rank and file have joined AITC. In Assam also many big politicians are in contact, very soon they will join AITC. In the Northeast almost all the states will be ruled by AITC in future.”

Asked if some more leaders will join Meghalaya AITC, he said, “ TMC is a party, they will sit together, they will decide. “
