In a strategic move ahead of key elections, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) General Secretary In-charge Avinash Adik and Coordinator-cum-Observer Sanjay Prajapati visited Tura for discussions with local stakeholders. Acting under the directive of NCP National President and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, along with former Union Minister Praful Patel, the leaders deliberated on the party’s expansion and electoral prospects in Meghalaya.
During the meeting, Adik announced the NCP’s plan to contest 29 seats in the upcoming Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) elections. Discussions also centered on candidate selection for the forthcoming Assembly and Parliamentary elections.
“The NCP has always considered Meghalaya a crucial part of its foundation, as the late P.A. Sangma was one of its founding leaders. Therefore, Meghalaya remains at the core of our political strategies and vision,” said Avinash Adik.
Emphasizing the party’s commitment to Meghalaya, Adik stated, “We want to take a more proactive role in the state, which is why this initiative was undertaken. In the coming days, we will work to strengthen the NCP unit in Meghalaya and ensure that we become a true representative of the people. We have also decided to engage in activities beyond politics, including sports, music, arts, and cultural programs.”
The visit signals the NCP’s intent to reinforce its presence in Meghalaya and expand its role in the state’s political and socio-cultural landscape.
