The Government is intensifying efforts to improve National Highway-6 (NH-6), with an additional ₹90 crore tender set to be floated soon for the construction of bridges, retaining walls, and other essential renovation works initially left out of the project. Sutnga-Saipung MLA Santa Mary Shylla has assured that repairs and construction along NH-6, up to Malidor, are on track to be completed by March 2025.
“Yeah, the repairing work on NH-6 is improving quite a lot. I recently visited the border areas and saw a lot of improvement. They have finished work till the Sonapur area, and now construction is ongoing between Sonapur and Malidor,” Shylla stated.
Highlighting the timeline, she added, “We hope people will bear with us for some more time. The Government is doing its best to finish the repairs within the stipulated timeframe. The road repairs and construction up to Malidor are expected to be completed by March 2025. Earlier, we had to close the road for 10 days to expedite the repairs.”
Shylla also noted the ongoing work on bridges, saying, “There will be a tender floating of about ₹90 crore. This is an additional amount for bridges, retaining walls, and renovation work that was not initially included. Hopefully, after the New Year, things will start immediately.”
The MLA urged the public to remain patient, emphasizing that the Government is committed to enhancing road infrastructure for the benefit of all.
