Vice Chancellor of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Prof Prabha Shankar Shukla on Thursday said he has not received any official communication from college principals and students that they are against implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP).
Speaking to reporters, Shukla said, “NEHU has already taken a decision to implement the NEP and till date, I have not received (any communication from) our principals and students. None of the principals have sent me any mail that they don’t want to implement the NEP.”
Asked, the NEHU VC said, “Actually MCTA is mainly concerned with the state government and they are not working under my government, even me I cannot say anything to the MCTA, I am ready to discuss but I cannot even directly call them.”
He however said that he is ready to discuss with the MCTA at any time on the NEP.
“Not only with the MCTA, I am ready to discuss with anyone. I have discussed with the KSU, NEHUSU, HYC, FKJGP and everybody is convinced (that the NEP is) for the benefit of the youths of Meghalaya,” Shukla said.
