SHILLONG, JULY 1: UDP legislator from Nongpoh Mayralborn Syiem on Monday met and requested the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma to speed up construction of the dilapidated Nongpoh-Umden-Sonapur road.
Speaking to reporters, Syiem said that he had requested the CM to ensure the road is taken as a top priority by the state government.
“This is a very important road and I have been following up very closely with the government. I am happy to tell you that the CM has given me a patient hearing and he agreed that the road will be on the top priority list of the government,” he said.
He said the sanction will be accorded to the project once all processes of going through the department of planning to NEC and to the Ministry of DONER is completed.
“I hope that very soon, we will be getting the sanction and it will benefit the people of my constituency especially the first part that is from Nongpoh to Umden with the length of 20 km which is an intermediate lane road. The second part is 38 km and it is under PMGSY, the DPR is already sent to the ministry of rural development and I hope this second part also will be a positive outcome that we will get to hear it in the days to come,” he said.
