NPP and Congress leaders along with 700 people on Wednesday joined the BJP in Garo Hills region.
These include sitting NPP MDC from Naguapara (Tikrikilla) Dormonath Sangma, NPP C&RD Block chairman from Ampati Drozil Sangma, NPP leader from Mendipathar Pulin Hato and INC block secretary Dular Sarkar.
The leaders and supporters were welcomed by BJP national vice president and Meghalaya in-charge M Chuba Ao, national secretary Rituraj Sinha and state president Ernest Mawrie in the presence of other leaders of the party.
In his speech, Rituraj Sinha assured them the party will provide them a platform to serve the people of their respective constituencies and fulfill their aspirations.
Chuba Ao explained how BJP, the largest political party in the world, was in fact a party made of the very people that it seeks to serve. He highlighted the BJP ideology of ‘India First, Party Second, Self Last’ for the joinees.
Ernest Mawrie also spoke on the occasion and expressed confidence that the BJP was going to form the next government in the state with the support of the people that was flowing in from all quarters.
While joining, the leaders said that the people of Meghalaya have seen the commitment of the Narendra Modi led BJP government and realized that it is the only party that works for the true upliftment of the people. They said it is this pro-people attitude of the BJP that has brought them to the party and they were excited to serve from within its folds. They expressed confidence in the BJP for weeding out corruption from the state and said that they now know that only BJP will allow them to work in a corruption-free and proactive environment.
