Shillong, Jan 11, 2025 – The National People’s Party (NPP) has released its second list of candidates for the upcoming Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) elections. The list features seven prominent candidates, including sitting MLA Sosthenes Sohtun and former MLA and MDC Samlin Malngiang, who will contest from Sohiong. Other names in the list include Dr. Amanda Annete Pakyntein from Mawkynrew, Joplin Sten from Mawhati, Elias Kharbihkhiew from Sohryngkham, Sharailang Warjri from Mawthadraishan, and Kordor L. Nongkynrih from Mawkhar Pynthorumkhrah.
With the announcement of this second list, the NPP has now confirmed a total of 25 candidates for the KHADC elections. Additionally, the party has declared 26 candidates for the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) elections.
State working president Hamletson Dohling stated that the third and final list of candidates for the remaining constituencies in both KHADC and JHADC is expected to be announced on Monday.
The NPP has adopted a strategic approach to the elections, fielding a combination of experienced leaders and fresh faces to ensure a robust representation in the councils.
