Taking a jabe at ruling NPP, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Ernest Mawrie, on Tuesday said, like the Congress in 2014, a drowning NPP is resorting to last moment eyewash inaugurations and foundation stone laying.
Alleging NPP of fooling the public, Mawrie said that NPP is aware of its declining popularity and rising anger among the people against them.
“The NPP is well aware of the fact that they have done nothing in the last 4.5 years for the people. They know that the people are ready to vote them out. And just like the drowning Congress in 2014 (before Lok Sabha elections), the drowning NPP is now on an inauguration and foundation stone laying spree,” the State BJP president said,
Mawrie said that most of the projects are being inaugurated in an incomplete state, and foundations stones are being laid with no proper planning or resource mobilization.
He said, this is too little, too late.
“All this is being done to fool the voters into trusting the NPP once again,” the BJP leader said.
Mawrie further asserted that most of the developmental work that has been done in the state in the last 4.5 years has been under the BJP led Central Government schemes.
On the FOCUS scheme too, Mawrie wondered as to where the money really came from! Mawrie said that no amount of renaming and rebranding of Central Government Schemes, or redirecting of Central Government funds, is going to fool the people.
“The people of Meghalaya are aware of the impact that PM Narendra Modi has brought to their lives, and the people have decided to bring a BJP led double engine government in Meghalaya as well,” Mawrie said.
GOVT CLARIFICATION
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday said the allegation made by the BJP against the ongoing inaugurations and foundation stone laying by the NPP-led state government is purely political.
Tynsong asked BJP state president Ernest Mawrie to come to the secretariat and find out how the government is getting money for such developments.
Mawrie had said that like the Congress in 2014, the drowning NPP is resorting to last moment eyewash inaugurations and foundation stones laying ahead of 2023 Assembly polls.
“I would like to request the president of the BJP state unit Meghalaya please come here in secretariat you will get everything, how we got money for FOCUS, how we got money for creation of Civil Sub-Divisions, how we got money for creation of C&RD blocks and so on and so forth,” Tynsong said.
“Just asking in the air, you don’t get anything because this allegation is purely political only but if you really wanted to know exactly how we manage the finances of the state, I think we can sit down especially they are part and parcel of the government – so we are ready to share everything,” he stated
