NPP Mawphlang candidate says he quit Congress after being denied ticket

Four time sitting MDC of Mawphlang Lamphrang Blah on Thursday said that he left the Congress not because he did not get a ticket for the upcoming bye election to the Mawphlang.

After filing his nomination as candidate of the ruling National People’s Party (NPP), Blah told reporters that he has never applied for a Congress ticket.

“This is because Kennedy C Khyriem is there as an ex-MLA and ticket aspirant. Therefore, as a loyalist and gentleman, I don’t want to quarrel for tickets with anyone,” he said.

Blah said the decision to join the NPP was to fulfill his ambition to be MLA of Mawphlang constituency.

He also exuded confidence to win the bye election.

“I am confident as I have the support of the people of Mawphlang constituency.

At the same time I request the voters of Mawphlang to kindly give me the support to fulfill my ambition to be MLA of this constituency.”

When asked, Blah said that he does not think that the sympathy vote will have any impact during the bye election since the electorates of Mawphlang constituency are educated enough and will think for the future of the constituency.
