PM will not attend Statehood celebration

After much hype, Prime Minister Narendra Modi decided not to attain the golden jubilee celebration of statehood of Meghalaya, slated on January 21.

This was informed by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong. With just three days left, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said, “The Prime Minister has communicated that he cannot come to the state. However, there will be a kind of statement to be given by him (PM) virtually.”

He said the chief secretary and the department concerned are working out to fit the same in the programme to be held at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium at Polo.
