Four persons were arrested on Thursday for their alleged involvement in the violent attack on innocent people during a rally over unemployment called by the FKJGP on October 28.
Informing this, East Khasi Hills SP S Nongtnger said, “…after identifying the culprits, police conducted several raids on the intervening night of November 2 and November 3 in East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi and arrested four persons directly involved in the assaults while others have fled to evade arrest.”
He said that the arrested persons will be produced in court in connection with the cases registered in Laitumkhrah police station and Sadar police station.
“Efforts are on by the district police to arrest all those involved in the assaults,” the SP said.
Reacting to the arrest, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, “There is a lookout for another four people or may be five people and they are absconding right now.”
He further said, “These are people identified based on videography, these are people involved in the violence as I have mentioned last time that we have seen that there were certain group of people, very small group of few people who are actually involve in this violent activity, and hence the search is on and based on that the search is on and based on law necessary action will be taken.”
