Police arrests one for planting IED bomb at NPP office: HM confirms


Meghalaya Police on Wednesday apprehended one suspect from civil hospital, Shillong for his alleged involvement in the recent incident of placing an improvised explosive device (IED) in front of National People’s Party (NPP) office.

In a statement Police said, “In the course of Investigation, the suspect admitted to his role and also stated that he is a member of the proscribed Militant outfit HNLC.”

“Incriminating documents seized from his possession,” Police said adding the investigation of the case is in progress to arrest the accused persons involved in the crime.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui said, “Police on Wednesday picked up one suspect by the name Seinkupar Kharkongor, from Umphyrnai area and recovered two mobile phone and other incrimination document and investigation  is still on to nab the person who involved. “

Stating that the police have done the diligence investigation based on the inputs and based on credible evidence, Rymbui said, “….from the preliminary investigation reveals his involvement in placing the bomb in that area.”

Asked,  he further said, “… this type of things should not be done at all as I said nothing can be solved by these confrontation or by other means it is only by mutual discussion within the parameter of the constitution of India.”
