Police on Sunday picked up five people for their involvement in the petrol bomb attack at the statue of JN Bawri in front of Bawri Mansion, Dhankheti in Shillong was attacked early this morning.
Confirming the report, Superintendent of Police East Khasi Hills District Sylvester Nongtnger said, “5 persons were picked up in this regard and the investigation is going on.”
According to the information received, around 4:00 AM, unknown miscreants allegedly threw petrol bombs at the statue of JN Bawri. The bottle scattered upon impact, but thankfully, the statue did not sustain significant damage.
Police have already begun their investigation into the matter, and an FIR has been lodged at the Laitumkhrah police station.
The miscreants reportedly targeted an ATM booth in the Dhankheti area, pelting it with stones.
