The South Garo Hills Police recovered over 340 anti-aircraft live ammunition and four ammunition boxes from Chibokgre jungle under Chokpot PS, South Garo Hills.
After receiving information that some ammunition boxes were kept hidden by a suspected militant somewhere in the jungle of Chibokgre Village under Chokpot PS, South Garo Hills District, the district police jumped into action.
In a press statement, Superintendent of Police, South Garo Hills Shailendra Bamaniya said, “In pursuant to the information, at around 01:15 AM one team led by SDPO Chokpot accompanied by C.I (Sadar), OC Chokpot, I/C BDDS and 3 police personnel was deputed to verify the input.”
Police said, at around 3:27 am, the Police Team unearthed the hidden 340 anti-aircraft live ammunition and four ammunition boxes from Chikbokgre jungle.
“Accordingly, the recovered items were seized by OC Chokpot at the spot in the presence of individual witnesses. Currently enquiry is being conducted and investigation is underway. Necessary legal formalities are being done,” the SP added.
