Price rise: Govt asks DCs to reactivate district monitoring committees

Amidst the skyrocketing price of essential commodities including food and vegetables, the State Government has asked all the deputy commissioners to reactivate the district monitoring committees to monitor the price rise on regular basis.

Informing this, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said, “HYC they met me and then  they have given their suggestion that  that district monitoring committee  should be again reactivated, not only the district even the state level monitoring price committee should also be  reactivated and accordingly directed all the deputy commissioners to reactivate these committees and monitor these issues on a regular basis and solve the problem of price rise in a district level.

Further, Tynsong said that the government had taken up with the Centre on the need to address the issue of price rise.

“We have done it already. And not only Meghalaya, other states too have taken up this issue with the Centre,” Tynsong told reporters.

The Deputy CM said that the issue has to be discussed not only at the state level but at the central level as well.

“You cannot just blame the state government because there are certain issues which can only be worked out the central level,” he said.
