Confident with the recent poll victories of BJP in three out of four key state elections, Senior BJP Legislator from Meghalaya and National Executive Member AL Hek said the same wave will be carried for 2024 elections.
In the recent results it’s shown that BJP wrested control of the heartland states of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan from the Indian National Congress, Hek feels in Meghalaya too the party has a good chance.
“You have seen the results of recently held Assembly elections, so the same wave will be carried out in 2024,” Hek said.
Stating that Assembly elections are different from that of Lok Sabha polls, the senior BJP leader said for the National elections, people will go for the National party as people will see which National party can give better development to the people.
“BJP is doing very well in the whole country and we will do well in Meghalaya as well. If you talk about the Assembly elections it’s different but when we talk about General elections people will go for a National party,” he said. .
“ It’s the choice of the people to see which National party, that can give better development for the state of Meghalaya and also for the country,” the BJP leader added.
While refusing to comment on candidates’ selection of other political parties, he said the choice of candidates for BJP will depend on its National leaders.
Asserting that he is not claiming to be a contender for BJP’s ticket for Shillong Parliamentary seat, Hek said all the decisions in this regard rest with the National leadership.
The state elections committee is yet to ask for the application for names.
