Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma on Monday stated that 1,608 schools have been sanctioned for renovation under the state’s Mission Education initiative. While work in some districts has been completed, several blocks, including Mawsynram, Mylliem, Mawphlang, Khliehriat, Amlarem, Umsning, Mawthadraishan, and Umling, have yet to see any progress.
“It’s still zero percent, and we have to review these,” Sangma said, emphasizing the need for immediate attention to the pending blocks. He clarified that the initiative involves repairs and renovations of school buildings, with minor repair works underway in most of the sanctioned schools, except for the blocks where work has not yet commenced.
