Ri Bhoi police arrests suspected HNLC member

July 11: Following the recent arrest of four suspected members banned HNLC by Ri Bhoi Police however, the Ri Bhoi Police today arrested another one suspected member of HNLC identified as Sanbor Rapsang, a resident of Mawlai, Umjajew, East Khasi Hills.

Notably, the Ri Bhoi Police has recently arrested the suspected members of HNLC which include Cyfrank Pual Pariat, Kitbok Mujai, Barnabas Lyngdoh and Wanpynshngain Dympep.

According to a press release by the Ri Bhoi Superintendent of Police, Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, stated that the suspected HNLC member was arrested after the Ri Bhoi police continued to search for him. A case has been registered at Umiam Police Station as per the case No.  46(06)2024 U/s 120B/506/384/511 IPC R/W Sec 10/13/17/18 jong ka UA(P) Act.

It was also stated that Cyfrank Paul Pariat, revealed that he had undergone training in Bangladesh with one Kynsaijun Thabah, resident of Umlyngka,Kynton Block-II, East Khasi Hills District for a period of one month in the month of mid July 2023 till mid-August 2023 after which they returned back to their respective homes.

On 5th  July 2024, Kynsaijun thabah was arrested by the Ri Bhoi Police and during the interrogation, he confessed of being the member of the banned HNLC and that he had undergone training during the above said period together with Cyfrank Pariat.

However, in the further interrogation, Kynsaijun Thabah had also revealed the name of one co-accused Shri Sanbor Rapsang who helped to arrange the logistics for his movement to Bangladesh last year, but today, Shri Sanbor Rapsang was arrested in connection with the above referred case and the investigation is on to reveal more details from the accused person.
