Ri Bhoi police seizes 2.47g of heroin; arrests one

The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) team of Ri Bhoi on Wednesday apprehended Vicky Lyngdoh of 20th Miles while he was traveling from Byrnihat towards Nongpoh, and seized contraband items from his possession.

The seized items include a master packet containing contraband marked as Ex-A1 & B1, a sealed envelope marked as Ex-A & B containing two small-sized containers of punk color used for tobacco, two mobile phones (POCO & OPPO), five unused syringes, and an Alto 800 car with registration number ML10C 0012 and its ignition key.

Police reported that at around 2:30 PM, based on credible information from the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Nongpoh, it was suspected that the white Alto car driven by Vicky Lyngdoh was carrying illegal contraband. In response, the ANTF team swiftly set up a checkpoint at Downgate, Nongpoh, where the vehicle was intercepted at 2:50 PM, leading to the apprehension of Vicky Lyngdoh, aged 23.

“All procedures in accordance with the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act were followed in the presence of independent witnesses and under the supervision of Sub-Inspector D. Baishya. Preliminary tests confirmed the presence of heroin, with a net weight of 2.47 grams,” Police said.

A case has been registered at Nongpoh Police Station, and investigations are ongoing to uncover any connections related to this case.
