Ronnie terms Sanbor’s allegation against Pala as ‘hollow’

SHILLONG, FEB 28: Congress legislature party (CLP) leader Ronnie V Lyngdoh on Wednesday termed the allegations made by BJP MLA from South Shillong Sanbor Shullai against Shillong MP Vincent H Pala as hollow. He also slammed Shullai for failing to speak in the Assembly.

Speaking to reporters, Lyngdoh said, “You find out how many times Sanbor Shullai has attended the Assembly. How many times has he spoken in the Assembly? Regarding (the performance of) Pala, I think a lot of work has been done by him. He is a very quiet man. He doesn’t seek publicity like some of these politicians. A lot of things he has done for us and I think a lot of projects have been undertaken in the state of Meghalaya due to his effort.”

“But the allegations of Sanbor rings hollow because he himself hardly speaks in the House and hardly attends the House. Have you heard him Speak in the House? Just coming to the House and not saying anything he might as well stay back home as it is as good as staying back at home. So his allegation rings hollow because he does not follow the proceedings of the parliament where Vincent Pala MP of Shillong has participated in the House to address issues concerning the state of Meghalaya,” he added.

On the allegation that Pala has failed to hold DISHA meetings in the constituency, Lyngdoh however said one must understand that during the last 2-3 years, Covid-19 pandemic was there and then a lot of schemes were not released by the Government of India. He said that the budgets for MGNREGS and for rural development have been slashed. “So now just having a meeting with nothing to talk about, it does not make any sense,” he said.
