Ronnie V Lyngdoh appointed as ‘Congress Legislative Party leader’

Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday approved the appointment of Congress MLA Ronnie V Lyngdoh as the Congress Legislative Party leader. After taking charge, the new CLP leader told reporters that the Regional parties backed by Congress and AITC have numbers to form the Government.

“All the parties have come together to ensure that we have a Government that serves the people, be responsible,” Lyngdoh told reporters in Shillong.

The former Minister further stated that the discussions amongst the non NPP- BJP parties are on.

Asked, he said, “Being the single largest party it is the responsibility of the Governor to invite (NPP) but then by inviting is not the end of the process, they (NPP) have to prove the majority.”

It may be mentioned that the different party Legislators belonging to the United Democratic Party (UDP), All India Trinamool Congress, People’s Democratic Front (PDF), Congress and the Voice of The People Party (VPP) held a meeting to forge an alliance. Hill State People’s Democratic Party president KP Pangniang was also present for the meeting but two of its MLAs were missing.

The meeting  at the official residence of Lahkmen Rymbui in Laitumkhrah.
