SHILLONG, NOV 25: The state government has received Rs 1,08,83,36,926 for disbursal of scholarship to over 49,628 beneficiaries.
A statement issued on Monday said, “The Directorate of Higher & Technical Education has received a total of Rs. 1,08,83,36,926/- for disbursal of Scholarships, comprising of Rs. 98,08,91,9521- from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs,
Government of India as the Central Share and Rs. 10,89,87,995/- from Government of Meghalaya as the Equivalent State Share.”
It said a total of 49,628 beneficiaries have already been paid their scholarships.
The first instalment of Rs 42,32,13,280/- (central share: Rs 38,09,9,952/- & State share = Rs 4,23,2I,328/-). was received and paid to 17,364 beneficiaries.
The second installment of Rs 66,66,66,6671 (Central share = Rs 60,00,00,000/- & State share = Rs 6,66,66,667/-) was received and paid to 32,064 beneficiaries.
The statement said the remaining 27,127 beneficiaries will be paid once the third installment of funds is received from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
“The Department is in the process of actively pursuing with Government of India for the release of the Third installment.
We are committed to ensuring that all eligible students receive their scholarships in a timely manner,” Director of Higher and Technical Education said.
