Rs 3.61 crores has been sanctioned for construction of RCC Bridge near Rhino Museum from Rilbong to connect Kenches Traces Laban

SHILLONG, FEB 17:  MLA of South Shillong constituency Sanbor Shullai informed that Rs 3.61 crores has been sanctioned for construction of RCC Bridge near Rhino Museum from Rilbong to connect Kenches Traces Laban with PWD Road at Umshyrpi.

 

This was informed after an inspection was conducted with officials from PWD, station commander, Shillong Cantonment Board and leaders from the locality.

 

Speaking to media persons, Shullai said that he had initiated this project for the last eight months but since the land falls under defence, it was not easy to acquire the land.

 

“I had to travel to Delhi to seek the approval from the defence ministry to acquire a plot of land of the defence to construct a bridge near the Rhino Museum which will connect Kenches Trace with Umshyrpi for smooth flow of light motor vehicles” said Shullai.

 

Shullai informed that the PWD will have to pay to the defence Rs 1.69 lakhs for the plot of land acquired for construction of RCC Bridge and the PWD has already prepared a detailed project report (DPR).

 

He added that the proposed RCC Bridge will ease the flow of traffic for the people of all Raid Laban can use this link road after the construction of the bridge.

 

On the same day the MLA of South Shillong constituency had conducted inspection in and around Lumshatsngi for construction of aqueduct channel including the link road up to Bathesda Hospital.

 

Shullai informed that an amount of Rs 2.34 crores and the project will include construction of 3 ft drainage system to bury the water pipes which will also help in widening the link road connecting Lumshadsngi and Kenches Traces.

 

He appeals to the Dorbar Shnong and all the residents to cooperate with the PWD in making sure that the two projects will be complete in stipulated time.
