SHILLONG, FEB 20: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday informed that the state Government has sanctioned Rs 338.152 crore for Tura Smart Town project, while an amount of Rs 79.8 crore has been sanctioned for Jowai Smart town project.
Sangma in his reply said, “We don’t have an immediate plan (to increase the number of smart towns) but definitely it is in our genda to ensure all of our towns come under this programme.”
The chief minister said Tura town and Jowai town are the two smart towns in the state.
“Rs 338.152 crore has been sanctioned for Tura town and Rs 79.8 crore for Jowai town,” he added.
Sangma said there is no specific criteria for eligibility under the smart town programme.
“As we move along we will expand (the programme) and if necessary, we will also create criteria,” he added.
