A day after the Meghalaya BJP decided to approach the state Lokayukta over the alleged misappropriation of central funds in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) and the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC), its legislator from South Shillong constituency Sanbor Shullai has distanced himself from the entire episode.
Expressing displeasure, Shullai, in a statement issued on Thursday said that he was not aware nor consulted about the decision of the state party to approach the Meghalaya Lokayukta and that even several senior leaders including his party colleagues are not aware about it.
The MLA also reiterated that nobody in the government will support corruption and any differences among the party in the alliance should be discussed in appropriate forums.
Shullai said that he is clear about his stance and wants party leaders to wait for the coordination committee to meet before coming to any conclusion.
Shullai said that he along with senior leaders of the party will meet central leaders, state incharge, and NEDA chief Himanta Biswa Sharma after Christmas and will seek clarity on this issue.
According to him, there are several issues with regards to the state party crisis which he wants to discuss with central leaders.
Shullai said that after discussing the matter with central leaders he will take appropriate decisions regarding the issues raised by state leaders.
