Sanbor Shullai ignored as Meghalaya Govt unveils U Tirot Sing bust in Dhaka

​The Minister who during his tenure initiated the installation of a life-size statue of Khasi freedom fighter U Tirot Sing in Dhaka couldn’t attend the program as there was no proper invitation sent to him. Sanbor Shullai, legislator from 19 South Shillong, Chairperson of Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), former Arts and Culture Minister was reportedly sidelined.

According to Shullai he got the invitation at the last minute after returning  back from the Assembly on Friday.

“I got the invitation at the last minute after I came back from the Assembly yesterday”, Shullai said.

 

Although, the BJP leader expressed his happiness that Tirot Sing bust was inaugurated in Dhaka on Friday, he maintained that he initially has initiated the plan to install life-size statue of Khasi freedom fighter U Tirot Sing in Dhaka.

 

The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya Sniawbhalang Dhar and the High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pranay Verma jointly unveiled the statue on Friday. It may be mentioned  that the state team in Dhaka is led by Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, Art and Culture Minister Paul Lyngdoh, Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, and Chairman of State Planning Board Metbah Lyngdoh, along with some Government officials and members of the Press.
