Bus Accident Near Umling Forest in Ri Bhoi District Leaves Several Passengers Injured
A serious bus accident occurred on October 16, 2024, at around 7:34 AM, near Umling Forest in Ri Bhoi District, when a night super bus, bearing registration number ML05L8998, traveling from Ladrymbai to Guwahati, capsized, leaving several passengers injured.
Upon investigation, authorities discovered that the bus had overturned on the Guwahati to Shillong lane of NH06. Injured passengers were promptly taken to Bethany and Nongpoh Civil Hospital for medical attention. The bus driver fled the scene before police arrived.
Eyewitness accounts suggest that the accident took place around 7:30 AM due to reckless driving at excessive speed. The driver lost control of the bus while navigating a slight left curve, causing the vehicle to crash through the center divider and capsize, blocking the entire Guwahati to Shillong lane.
