Shillong Airport: IndiGo to resume flight operations from July 1st


After over 2 months, Private carrier IndiGo will resume flight operations from July 1st as the number of active coronavirus cases in Meghalaya declined.

(Airport Authority of India) AAI Shillong in a tweet said, “It is hereby informed that M/s. @IndiGo6E is resuming their #Shillong operations w.e.f. 1st July. All passengers are requested to follow latest health protocol. M/s. Indigo may be contacted for any query on flight.”

It may be reminded that earlier, with a surge in COVID 19 cases in Meghalaya,  M/s. Indigo Airlines suspended their Shillong operations from 23rd April.

Initially it way till 30th April, but gradually they extended the suspension of Flight operation from Shillong Airport till 30th June.

Now, as the situation improves, M/s. Indigo Airlines resumes its operation, however, AAI Shillong has asked all the passengers to follow latest health protocols.

It includes mandatory registration for people entering Meghalaya, RTPCR testing at Entry Points, beside others.

IndiGo had commenced operations to and from Shillong — its 54th domestic destination– in July 2019 under the regional connectivity scheme. After that, the airlines also connected Shillong with Silchar and Agartala, thereby strengthening the connectivity within Northeast.
