The two-day Shillong Autumn Festival will be held at the Umiam Lake Resort on October 29 and 30.
Organized by the OPUS Productions in collaboration with the Tourism department, the objective of the Shillong Autumn Festival this year is “empowering the youth”.
OPUS founder & communications head Alethea O’Neal Kynta said, “The aim is to build and establish the Shillong Autumn Festival as a property that can be as big as other Music & Cultural Festivals held in other parts of the North-East like Hornbill, Zero, etc.”
She said the Shillong Autumn Festival has always been a huge tourist attraction in the past years boasting an audience attendance of 4k+.
“This year, the Festival which will be presented by the Meghalaya Tourism Department (supported by CMO & Government of Meghalaya) will be on a larger scale and will be packed with entertainment for the entire family – from Cultural Dances, Folk Music, Traditional Food Stalls, Traditional Handicraft Stalls, Game Stalls, Contemporary Bands, Fashion Show, DJs and much more,” Kynta said.
The first day of the festival will feature – the ReChords, the Strait Brothers, B4SHAN X Lily, The Prophets (Mizoram), Summersalt, DJ Meban and MOJI (Australia).
Rhem, Imprints, Sonic Vibration, Lynx, L B King, Rum and Monkeys, Bombay Bassment (Mumbai), About Us (Nagaland) and other will be performing at the last day of the festival.
The festival will also showcase A Fashion Show by renowned Fashion Designer Arif Mukhim & Dance Sequences from Team Phoneix – a dance group initiated by Anniesha Mawrie with a forte in Hiphop, Jazz, Latino & Dancehall styles.
As a Kid-Friendly Festival, the Shillong Autumn Festival will feature an exclusive Kids Zone where children of all ages can partake in activities ranging from Inflatable Games (by Fun ‘n Thrills Park), Face Painting (by renowned artist Batliakor Laitthma) , Temporary Tattoos (by renowned artist Raphael Garette Thangkhiew) as well as enjoy shopping for Toys,
Balloons, Sweets & much more from Delilah’s Chemera Store & the PartyStarters Store.
Other Activities will include a Games Section in collaboration with XSports showcasing Paintball Target Practise, Wheels of Fortune, Archery & Hot Air Balloon Rides; A Photobooth Area where Festival Attendees can click Selfies as well as get Instant Photo as Souvenirs with Party Props from the PartyStarters Store; An Exhibition by Riti Academy of Visual Arts and a Booth sponsored by Meghalaya Tourism Development Corporation for trying on Traditional Costumes.
The Shillong Autumn Festival will also feature a Makers` Market showcasing local handicrafts, locally made products as well as fashion accessories and body products from stores – The Craft Collective, MTDC Handicraft Stall, Omil Farms, Fashionable Merchandise Stall, Body Bodh Store & Eve’s
Boutique Store.
The Shillong Autumn Festival 2022 will also feature a Food Court featuring Shillong`s iconic Food Stalls – The Chicken Wagon / Baking Leaven / Memorial Taste / Café Sola / Meaty Delights / Mama’s Café / Eden Restaurant/ The Blue Ribbon Bakery / Luzia’s Kitchen & a Stall from Mizoram by Sekibuhchhuak Food Industry. There will also be special Food Stalls serving Local Traditional Food from Meghalaya.
